Creative writing: poetree

Get up close and personal with trees and explore creative writing with Poetree! This lesson idea allows children to explore all aspects of a tree using their senses.

From studying leaves to feeling the textures of bark, it’s a great way to connect children with nature. You can also carry out the lesson plan throughout the year and teach them about seasonal changes and science too.

Learning through Landscapes developed this resource for a range of levels. It includes references to the curriculum in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Furthermore, the activity idea is adaptable for different age groups.
