Cardboard box street

You’ve heard of thinking outside the box, well now you can make a whole street out of humble cardboard. Construct cardboard box buildings like banks, greengrocers, and bakeries, and once they’re complete get trading with your friends.

  • Take a large cardboard box and open it out flat – this will be your shop front
  • Tape some small constructed cardboard boxes to the back to provide support so that your shop will stand up
  • Carefully cut windows into the front using scissors
  • Next draw a shop name and sign, and maybe even some of your shop’s window displays too. Be as creative as you like
  • Inside and outside your shop you can place all the things you need, such as fruit and vegetables, coins, baked treats etc.
  • You can even make some special items out of more boxes, like a bank safe
  • Once you’re ready, invite people over and see what they buy

So there’s a little inspiration to help you on your way. Let’s get playing – and share your stories with #OutdoorClassroomDay
