Being a muse in your own masterpiece

Be a muse in your own masterpiece

Think ‘art class’ and a paint-stained table littered with messy brushes and pots of PVC glue may spring to mind, but what about drawing an imaginary self-portrait with chalk on the ground outside, or sculpting your own piece of modern art out of some mud in the local park. Taking creative play outside – beyond the constraints of ‘not getting paint on the floor’ or the whole class drawing the same bowl of fruit – means kids have the chance to think for themselves and be inspired by their new surroundings.

Honing creative skills is a vital part of a child’s development, so whilst what they are doing is simply playing, they are also developing their imaginations and bonding with friends – which is crucial for later life.

Experience the benefits of creative play outdoors and sign up to Empty Classroom Day.
