Our Green Space Stories activities encourage children to connect with and reflect on their relationship to nature wherever they are living. Inspiring curiosity, learning about the places that they live and visit, themselves and each other. Each activity aims to build confidence, self-expression and collaborative learning skills.
A moment of stillness, feeling the earth beneath your feet and the wind on your face, explore outdoor sensations and textures, go on a sensory journey and make a green space story.
The activity pack is designed for teachers, parents, carers and group leaders to use with children. It has a range of activities aimed at children aged 7-11.
Our Green Space Stories connects to the countrywide Green Space Stories citizen science project, building a library of memories and stories which reflect how we see and experience the natural world in the 21st century. Anyone of any age can share a story, a memory or simply upload a photograph. Join the project and upload your class or group green space experiences: https://greenspacedarkskies.uk/green-space-stories/
Share your stories on social media using #GreenSpaceDarkSkies
Our Green Space Stories Resource Pack has been created as part of the Green Space Dark Skies project, produced by Walk the Plank and commissioned by the UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK festival. Thousands of people between April and September 2022 travelled into 20 beautiful green spaces at dusk to create collective artworks made with low impact lights.
